We are so fortunate to have the Senior Rabbi come and visit our
Kindergarteners in the Religious School. They all enjoyed them-
selves and the children had the opportunity to know more about
the person who stands on the bimah. It is vital for our children to
begin their relationships with our clergy from a young age.

During the second weekend in January, Hillel High School’s
Confirmation Class went on a retreat to Columbia Lakes. While
there, the students participated in Shabbat and Havdalah servic-
es, took part in activities surrounding the theme of the weekend
“Believe, Behave and Belong” and had some “down time” to be
outside with their classmates and to do Jewish yoga. The students
also had the opportunity to talk about Israel with the CYJ Shaliach,
who was one of the staff members. The class returned with a bet-
ter understanding of some of the challenges facing Judaism today,
and with a heightened respect for one another. This trip, always a
highlight of the Confirmation year, was a huge success.
Pictured below are the students and staff that participated in
the retreat. Front row (1-r): Rabbi Steven Morgen, Amelia Bell,
Amanda Alexander, Maia Vexsler; second row (1-r): Kali Lang,
Jared Hartman, Brooke Kantor, Zachary Strauss, David Chaluh,
Natalie Johary, Alexandra Levy; back row (1-r): staff members
Ronnie Most, Hilary Most, Gil Yaari, Cantor Francyne Davis Ja-
cobs; not pictured: Natalie Weisfeld.
