B’ Yad program. Formed in partnership between Beren and the
Alexander Institute, this program pairs developmentally disabled
Jewish teens with Beren students to socialize and study Torah. As
a participant in the Rabbi’s 10% giving program, Sarah will do-
nate to Israel’s Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon. Barzilai is the clos-
est hospital to Sderot and offers world class medical care to IDS
and wounded Gazans indiscriminately.
Paige Layne Suvalsky is the
daughter of Lisa and Bob Suvalsky
and the sister of Erin. Her proud
grandparents are Rita Blumenfeld
and the late Frank Blumenfeld of
Houston and Dottie Suvalsky and
the late Marvin Suvalsky of Omaha,
NE. Paige is a seventh grade student
at The Briarwood School. She en-
joys art, playing volleyball, softball

She enjoys playing the flute in the
Trafton Band. Emily likes to swim,
rollerblade and play tennis. She loves reading.
For her Mitzvah Project, Emily decorated and prepared Shab-
bat boxes for the hospitalized patients at MD Anderson Cancer
Center. Emily will be donating 10 percent of her monetary gifts
to the Scholarship fund at Camp Young Judaea Texas and to MD
Anderson Cancer Center. Emily is very happy to become a Bat
Mitzvah together with her friend, Tamar Farchy.

Michael Albert Hoffman is the
son of Marilyn and Cary Hoffman
and the brother of Alexander and
Victoria Hoffman. He is the grand-
m son of the late Margaret and Leslie
I Hoffman of Waco, TX, and the late
I Esther and Bernard Kaufman of
Portsmouth, RI. Michael is in Year 8
at the British School of Houston. He
enjoys rugby, soccer and trampoline.
He has a black belt in Martial Arts and is a member of Boy Scout
Pack 1190.
For his Bar Mitzvah project, Michael has been volunteering
at Tech and Trainers testing, taking apart and recycling computers
for the disabled. In honor of his Bar Mitzvah, Michael will donate
a portion of his monetary gifts to the Houston Food Bank and to
Special Pals.

She likes to travel and go to new places. Last year Tamar helped to
beautify the Aishel house premises by clearing the yard and plant-
ing new flowers beds. She will also, as a part of the Mitzvah Proj-
ect, play and sing at Seven Acres for the elderly. Tamar is going to
donate a portion of her money to IDF (Israel Defense Forces) to
keep on with their duty to protect Israel and send wishes of peace
and security to her aunt’s family who lives in Sderot.
Emily Anne Goldstein is the
daughter of Silvia and Mike Gold-
stein and the younger sister of Gas-
ton. Emily’s proud grandparents are
Luisa and Jack Kopinsky and Joan
and Alex Jekels, and the late Louis and surrounding herself with friends and family. For her Mitzvah
Goldstein. Emily is a seventh-grade Project, Paige collected canned goods for The Houston Food Bank
honors student at Trafton Academy, and will give ten percent to the Suvalsky-Blumenfeld Fund which
brings enrichment programs to Beth Yeshurun’s religious school.
