the cruiser U. S. S. Omaha, above, when a trio of Nazi blocUado
runners, en route from far eastern Japanese ports, were intercepted
and sunk in the South Atlantic. The enemy vessels, laden with
thousands of tons of rubber, tin, fats and ores, were sunk in attempt-
