This company has no interest in the sale of
burning appliances excepLthe. desire txrhave
consumption of natural gas. There is a great
difference in the quantity of gas used by the im-
proved appliances as contrasted with the older,
and it is not unusual for good appliances to save
enough gas to pay for themselves in one year.
Also, there is quite a difference In
consumption between the same appli-
ance’s performance when it is out or ad-
justment and when it is properly ad-
justed. Many appliances that should be
economical are out of order.
Sometimes this is remedied by merely clean-
ing the burners. Dust and dirt will settle on
such appliances, and in many cases obstruct the
tiny orifices through which the gas flows, thus
causing irregular and red flames. The surest
test of both adjustment and cleanliness is the
color of the flame. Short, blue flames are getting
all the heat possible per unit of gas; long red or
yellow flames are not burning perfectly, and are
likely to smoke, and do not develop the heat
Examination of your appliances may show
you how to reduce your gas Dills.
