PALM SPRINGS, Calif, Nov.
—Lofty Mt. San Jacinto, 11,000 feet
. above sea level, casts an afternoon
shadow over this desert community
so the city council has passed an or-
dinance establishing daylight saving
time, effective Nov. 17.
The council adopted the measure
last night with only one dissenting
vote, that from Charles Farrell, for-
mer movie star. Farrel said residents
had not been given sufficient time
to protest the law.
The sun goes down about 3 p. m.
during the winter months because of
the mountain’s shadow, but the or-
dinance will have one hour’s sun-
light. The new “sun time" will be
effective for 120 days.
Confusing is going to be the exper-
ience of any motorist who leaves the
towm of Indio, 23 miles from here, at
8 a. m. and arrives at 7:30 a. m., a half
hour earlier.

1844.
At a recent meeting of the directors
of the Collin County Centennial Cele-
bration and Veterans Home Coming
it was voted to turn over the sur-
plus funds raised in the Centennial
drive to be used in the extension ot
the Collin County Livestock barns
an dthe erection of a show arena.
The surplus in the Centennial fund
amounts to $6,387.99. This is a wise
move and will give our Fair a great
boost.

cause it goes right to the seat of the
trouble to help loosen and expel germ,
laden phlegm, and aid nature to soothe
and heal raw, tender inflamed bronchial,
mucous membranes. Tell your druggist
to sell you a bottle of Creomulsion with
the understanding you must like the
way it quickly allays the cough or you

Aguilar, Colo., Oct. 8 (INS)—Auth-
orities were skeptical, nevertheless
concerned, today, over increasing
eerie tales of a white-clad apparition
—apparently a woman, who keeps a
mournful vigil in the Aguilar church-
yard.
In the small, Southern Colorado
community, where history includes
stories of the supernatural involving
Spanish conquistadore and enslaved
Pecos Indians, the wild rumors found
fertile ground for conviction.
One oldtimer related: “I saw her
walking there. It's a woman, wear-
ing a long white dress. She cries
like a baby.” An 18-year-old youth
became a hero, though a terrified one,
when he told of being seized from
behind in the pitch-black night near
the churchyard.
