Day has come ami gone, the Japa-
nese war is making heavy ikmantis
on Western Electric's telephone
factories.
Of course, the end of the war in
Europe brings us closer to the day
when everyone who wants tele-
SOUTHWESTERN BELL
phone service can get it without
delay. But that day would still he
far off, even if all war demands
ended tomorrow .Telephone equip-
ment—dial central office equip-
ment, switchboards, even tahh—
is complicated. It takes a long time
to make, and a long time to put to
work.
At present, a trickle of new equip-
ment of various kinds is being
made. Until more is available, we'll
continue to do our best with what
we have. Thanks for being patient.
