white rats, the four hiochcmists
found that butterfat had a mark-
ed B-vitamin \alue for the ani-
mals. Corn oil, a vegetable fat.

en by R K. Boutwell, R. p. Gey-
er. C. A. Klevhjem and E. B.
Hart. They found that young
white rats which ate butterfat
grewr much faster than those
which j te corn oil, when six dif-
ferent purified carbohydrates
were used to supplement fat in
the diet Only when the rats were
fed glucose, a carbohydrate found
in truits and honey, was there lit
tie difference in the growth re-

those fed corn oil.
