Advertisement Of
Plastic Surgery
(By Untied Pre« )
fVALLAS, Tex., Aug. 7.—Meet
an ex-marine who wettrti the mid-
dle of his back for a face.
Meet 20 year old Archie Mosley
of Dalian, whose appearance now
belies the bloody mess the Japs
left of his face back 011 Guam.
Mosley also wears a hunk of
shrapnel behind his left eye, bui
the wavy-haired former leather-
neck corporal says his old wounds
don't bother him a bit.
His bride of four months, the
former Dorothy June Morrison, be-
lieves her "(rood looking hubby is
a walking advertisement for the
plastic surjreons."
Navy Doctors fixed up Mosley.
The surgery was clone aboard u
shi'i in the Pacific. They did 'HU'h
a good job that the youngster—-
who lied about his ape to jjet into
the marines, was found out and
held off from recruiting until he
was 17—was sent back into action
and was wounded again, on Oki-
nawa.
Lots of people, includinu- some
of the soldiers in it, forget about
the war fast, but Archie only
has to feel his face, or look in the
mirror for a minute after shaving
to recall his good friends in the
marines who protected him from
Jap grenades — often throwing
them hack before they exploded—
on a beleaguered hill on Guam,
and the gootl Navy surjreons who
took a portion of his back and
made him a, new face of it.
Others, though, might not real-
ize the mild mannered e\-marine
was in some of the war's bloodiest
fighting. For his age is below
that of a irrear. majority of vet-
erans. And his looks—well it would
take a close examination to detect
the manufactured face.

Jinx Building Job
SKATTLK.—Contractors were
convinced that a jinx was oper-
ating full-^peed ot their job of
building a new warehouse hero.
Within the space of one hour,
three men had to go off the job to
the county hospital. William 01
Walters, a2, suffered a concussion
when struck a timber; a flying
chip (.'ashed the face of Albert
[.indsej, :!2, and Kenneth L. ^lie-
fer, 42, slugged his toe with a
sledge hummer.
