There is a
new pack of
scouts in town
and they are
looking for boys
to join! Cub
Scout Pack 139
held their
October meeting
in the high
school cafeteria,
at 6:00 pm on
Tuesday, October 20th. On their
agenda was learning the pledge and
motto, so they can receive their first
patches. They also started talking
about taking some type of fun outing
next month.
The first November meeting was
held on election Day, November 3rd,
also in the school lunchroom. At that
meeting they practiced raising the
flag, learned how to fold the flag,
talked about how to handle the flag,
and discussed why it is so important
to handle it properly. They talked

Wow! Who ever dreamed sixth grade
would be so much fun? Not me~ I know that! In
the last few weeks, we have had a lot of exciting
things happen. We built rafts for Mrs. Farrow’s
reading class to go along with our story that we
have been reading: The Cay.
Then, in Mrs. Land’s science class, we have
been studying all about the solar system. Our
projects have ranged from building your own
model of the solar system to creating a poem
about the solar system. We have even been
developing a power point |
Then, we got a plastic cup, and made a little
hole at the bottom. After that, we put a string
through it, tied knots at the end of the string,
and got it a little wet. Then we pulled on the
end. That’s how you make a turkey call!
As you can see, sixth grade is never bor-
ing. All in all, it has been a very fun, event-
ful, and educational time.

As the holidays approach, so does
the time of year to help children and
their families, in our school and com-
munity, to have a happy holiday sea-
son.
The Longhorn Angel Tree Project
will be headed up again this year by
Bonnie Stewart. Longhorn Angels
will be hung from the Christmas tree
in her office beginning Monday,
November 9, so stop by and select an
angel from the tree.
Information such as wants, needs,
and clothing sizes about a child will
be printed on each angel you select.
Once you have selected an angel from
the tree, please purchase Christmas
gifts for your little Longhorn Angel.

The next meeting will be Tuesday,
Nov 10 at stadium, to practice again
for the Veteran's Day ceremony.
For those who have missed the
first couple of meetings or were not
aware of this opportunity, the group
will meet every other Tuesday. Watch
for them at the Veteran’s Day
Celebration on November 11th,
because they will be the ones in sharp
dress, raising the American Flag.

about a scientist who contributed to the discov- JL:,

In Mrs. Marschall’s class, we have been
learning about different religions and are get-
ting to watch movies on them to see how the
different people practice their religion.
Oh! I almost forgot Mrs. Land’s and Mrs.
Marschall’s super sneaky surprise. They had
dry ice, hot water, and a soapy water mixture.
Of course, we were making big bubbles with
the gas that the dry ice gave off when it hit the
hot water.
