ans who have served our country. We
feel very honored and privileged to be
helping with this event.
The MS Student Council is currently
working on a project called "A Change
for the Better." This past summer, one
of our coaches and teachers, Will Reid,
was fortunate enough to work on a mis-
sion trip with his church to the
Dominican Republic, and they construct-
ed a school with a woman named Rosa
Elena. Ms. Elena feeds and educates
over 160 children each day by herself,
funded by donations from the South
Texas Children's Home or a local Baptist
Church in the Dominican Republic.
To make a "Change for the Better",
we decided to help Ms. Elena and the
kids she teaches to receive an education,
so we will be placing a change jar in
every Middle School and High School
classroom for donations. We will collect
the change at the end of the semester
and give it to Coach Reid on behalf of
our school.
Ms. Elena has done so much for
these kids without much outside help
that we wanted to do something in return
to help her. Please join us in our desire
to help other students in our world by
filling up those change jars. This is just
the beginning to a great year in MS
Student Council.
REMINDER:
Some teachers offer incentives to kids who bring cans?

We voted on the following officers to
serve as advisors for our council:
President Taylor Reid, Vice-President
Payton Reid, Secretary Jordan White,
Treasurer Sam Lester, and Reporter
Sarah Whitten.
We encouraged other middle school
students to stay drug free by helping the
high school pick out themes for Red
Ribbon week. We are currently looking
forward to Veterans' Day because we
to bring the issue to the forefront.
In honor of National Red Ribbon Week, a
time set aside to promote drug awareness, the
Student Council tried a new approach to
reaching students. Each day
during the week of October
26th - 30th there was a dif-
ferent dress-up day. This
