MARIETTA, a—Dr. W. Bay Ir-
vine, dean of Marietta College, call-
ed the name of his wife to upme
forward und receive her diploma at
the school's commencement exer-
cises this year.
She was one of 17 women among
the 7lJ seniors who received degrees
at Marietta. She majored in for-
eign languages and minored in
English.and music to get a bach-
elor of arts degree. In her four
years of college work since she en-
rolled in 1943, Mrs. Irvine attained
an average in her grade* of better
thau B.
When she enrolled at Marietta,
she said, she found her husband
"tougher on me than any of the
professors. He insisted that 1 tret
my writteu work in on time and
that 1 live up to every requirement.
"The dean's ambition was to
