The Northeast Texas Future
Farmers of America will hold
their Thirty-first Annual Area
FFA Convention at Tyler
Junior College, Tyler, on
February 21, 1978. The after-
noon session will begin at 3:30
p.m with Hank Gilbert, Area
VI FFA President from Chapel
Hill presiding. The evening
session will begin at 7:00 p.m
Approximately a thousand
Future Farmers, parents,
vocational agriculture teachers
and guests are expected to
attend the meeting The
program will feature such FFA
activities as parliamentary
procedure, area and state
officer election, presentation of
Honarary I»ne Star Farmer
Degrees and FFA talent
contests. District representa-
tives competing for area
president are Kent Bailey,
Sulphur Springs. Daren Dun
can, Waskom, Randy Ellis.

approaching convention will

One of the highlights of the
day’s events will be the
selection and coronation of the
Northeast Texas Future Farm-
er Sweetheart There will be
eight contestants competing for
this honor. Two girls have been
selected from each of the four
FFA districts. Chapter Sweet-
hearts from the 85 FFA
chapters in the Northeast
Texas were in competition in
district eliminations. The area
selection will be made by
voting delegates from the
various FFA chapters attend-
ing the convention. Contestants
are: Alyson Carruth, Long- >
view, Lynn Lindsey, Texar
kana; Alice Looney. Clarks-
ville; Starla McKay. John
Tyler HS.’ Tyler; Diana
Rader, Hallsville; Terry Van
