The businesses are located in
what was known for years as
the Joe Parchman building and
housed Parchman Dry Goods
l^ater Jeff Meredith became a
partner in the business and the
store was known as Parchman
and Meredith In recent years
Crescent L>rug Store occupied
the building but during 1977
Crescent moved into two
adjoining buildings just east of
the Parchman building
Opal Dawson Dacus recently
bought the building has
installed a new front and has
completely remodeled the
interior The Stitchery Chalet
occupies the west side front of
the building Dawsonette Beau

floral shop variety store and
gift shop located in the south
portion of the building
Entrances to the building are
located on the north from the
sidewalk around the plaza with
a south entrance available
from the sidewalk around the
plaza with a south entrance

just south of the building Mrs
Dacus says she plans to
beautify the entrance from the
parking area to the south in the
future
Mrs Dacus says she will
serve refreshments and nu
merous door prizes will be
given away Everyone is urged
to register for the door prizes
Mrs Dacus says as far as she
can determine from the records
the building was built in about
186U During the remodeling
while some of the floor was
being replaced the workmen
found an axe imbedded in the
old concrete and an old tiniey
horse bridle bit was found
under the floor Opal said when
she used to run through the
Parchman stone as a child she
never dreamed she would
someday own the building
Mrs Dacus says she is happy
to have a part in beautify ing the
plaza area and hopes many
others will follow suit
Mrs Jaggers, owner of
Stitchery Chalet says she will
also serve refreshments give
several door prizes and invites
everyone to come in and
register The Stitchery Chalet
has been open for several
months
