The Mount Vernon Indepen-
dent School District will open
Tuesday, Sept. 1, for the first day
of instruction in the 1987-88
school year, according to Walter
Sears, Superintendent for the
MV1SD.
Administrators and faculty of
the district are currently involved
in in-service training and teacher
work days, Aug. 24-28.
Classes for all MVISD schools
will begin at 8 a.m. and dismiss at
3:40 p.m. during the school year.
Breakfasts and lunches will be
available in the cafeteria beginn-
ing the first day of classes.
Students grade K-12 may pur-
chase breakfast for $.60. Lunches
are available for grades K-5 at
$.90 and grades 6-12 for $1. Extra
milk may be purchased at a cost
of $.15 for white or $.20 for
chocolate.
Some students may qualify for
free or reduced price lunches and
breakfasts. Parents and guardians
are encouraged to contact their
child’s principal concerning re
quirements for the program.
Lunch tickets will be available
