A 50 volume leather bound set
of the most famous works by
American writers and poets is to
be presented to the Franklin
County Library.
The set is the focus point of a
Millennium Project grant awarded
to the local library. The receipt of
the grant was announced at the
August meeting of the Friends of
the Franklin County Library.
The grant administered by the
Library of America Foundation is
underwritten by the Carnegie
Foundation. The local $250
matching funds for the Millennium
Project grant was provided by
local attorney B. F. Hicks.
The first shipment of books is
expected to arrive in Mount Ver-
nonlate next week.
The Friends of the Library or-
ganization will sponsor a number
of activities over the next 12
months to introduce the collection
of books to the public, according
to Paul Paris, president.
