Periodically there have been national and
international business depressions, with lagging

prices for real estate. With the passing of each
of these depressions came a new impetus in
home building and home buying with real estate
prices going back to high levels.
Granting that there may not be a ready sale
for your home today (though you did not buy it
to sell, but to live in) the same intrinsic value is
there. It is worth no less than you paid for it
even if your neighbor sold out in a panic of fear.
Tomorrow—-next year—the man who bought
your neighbor’s house will reap a rich profit.
For the recent national depression is already
passing. Throughout the Nation there are defi-
nite signs of an upward trend. In Henderson
new construction work is under way costing
thousands of dollars. Shortly there will be the
returning demand for homes with consequent
higher prices.
In Henderson there are several hundred homes.
All of them are owned by people who bought
them with full confidence as good investments.
Good investments they are still.
The lot on which your home stands cost sev-
eral hundred or several thousand dollars. Once
an entire section of land in which that lot is lo-
cated sold for a few dollars an acre. The reason
for the difference is obvious—the increased de-
mand for that land.
In the years that have intervened Hender-
son has grown, increased population meant in-
creased demand for homes and higher prices for
land.
In order to satisfy the demand for better Newspaper facilities and to add to the
growth and progress of the community, the Rusk County News instituted a daily
newspaper which gives this community the latest news of the day and which has
endorsed and will continue to endorse—every movement that adds to the devel-
opment of the city.
Our faith in the City of Henderson has been justified and we look into the
future with confidence knowing that the Spirit of Progress that made Hender-
son what is today is still with us and will make it larger in the future.
