GREAT AIRPORT
AT LE DOURGET
Everybody remember Sunday
evening is Church service time.
Rev. Reeves will preach.
Mrs. Hittie Little is visiting in
the home of her daughter Mrs.
Bertus Hunt in Wright City.
Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Little visit-
ed the week-end with Mr. and
Mrs. Rains in Mt. Enterprise.
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Husband of
White City visited Mr. and Mrs.
Will Husband Sunday.
Junior Conway visited his grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. George
Henigan in Fairway the past
weew-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Dana Williams, J.
K. Williams, Miss Lula Mae Ross
visited in Liberty and Brooks the
past week-end.
We still have the Sunday School
spirit, quite a few attended Sun-
day. We urge everyone to be on
time Sunday. Also remember
Christian Endeavor.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cooper had
for their guest, their daughter,
Mrs. E. A. DeSadier and grand-
son, J. B. Alfred of Shreveport, La.
Sunday.

PARIS, Feb. 12 (UP)—Begun
less than a year ago, the new air
station of Le Bourget, airport of
Paris, will be completed in time
for the opening of the Paris Expo-
sition in May, when Le Bourget
will rank with the world’s greatest
airfields in equipment, as it la al-
ready one of the greatest in re-
nown and in amount of traffic
handled.
The big field, with a few hangars
and a modest restaurant onto
which Lindbergh dropped 10 years
ago, is now flanked by a massive
structure containing all the con-
veniences of a great railway ter-
minus, in the form of two long
wings sprouting cn either side
from the lighthouse and control
tower in the center. Before this
structure the grass surface has
given way to a wide sweep of con-
crete, from which the planes start
their take-off run, and where they
pull up after landing.
Brook Thrust Underground
The Moree, an Inconvenient
brook which runs along one side of
the field and used to worry trans-
atlantic fliers who needed a long
run to get their heavily loaded
planes Into the air, is being ruth-
lessly thrust underground, making
the distance available for gather-
ing speed before taking off more
than 2,000 yards. It is requiring
1,009,000 cubic meters of earth to
level off the field over the newly
subterranean Moree.
Later the cement arrival and
starting point will be extended into
log cement tracks facing in all di-
rections for taking off into various
directions of the wind, and the
field, already extended to the
north will be extended likewise to
the south. It will take on then the
shape of a great figure eight, with
the station on one side of the cen-
ter, oriented 111 a north-south di-
rection.
Connected with the development
of the airfield is the construction
of an automobile speedway linking
it to the center of the city, a pro-
ject which will cost $4,600,000. Not
only is the present route choked
with traffic, requiring an hour's
ride from the center of Paris to
the airfield, but passes through
some of the least pleasing parts of
the capital, hardly what would t>e
presented for a visitor’s first or
last impression.
Double Roadway Planned
The plan for the new speedway
calls for a double roadway, each
aide 27 feet wide, with no Intersec-
tions, viaducts and tunnels carry-
ing it across all other roads. Ar-
rived at the exterior boulevards, it
will duck underground and con-
tinue beneath the city’s traffic to
the Gare Saint-Lazare.
French statisticians are not re-
markable for speed, and Le Bour-
get’s are no exceptions. Therefore
figures for 1936 traffic are not yet
available, but those for 1935 indi-
cate the heavy increase in air traf-
fic through Paris, which has shown
great acceleration during the past
year.
For 1935 records show that 16.-
278 planes arrived or left Le Bour-
. r ------ „ --n They
as com-
get against 6,742 in 1923.
carried 103,933 passengers, a=
pared to 14,311 in 1923.
