w.-re obtained on Great Bear Lake,
near Bear Valley, California, by Col-
lin S. Sturgeon, for “God’s Country
and the Woman.'' In one or two of
the scenes the lake is so like glass
that the reflection of trees and sky
seemed almost clearer than original
objects. Most of these effects havo

tained after days of observation and
