to spring styles, mutt not be taken
too seriously as including all that
is new for next season. It is quite
obvolus that much of intense in-
terest ia being withheld for the larg-
er spring opening* which are nat-
urally followed by greater distri-
bution of the styles offered.
Sb far some interesting fashion
■ I currents are revealed; however.
—L trends which are Utterly suitebie
- as southern resort themes and
which will undoubtedly have fur-
ther development for spring. The
slenderizing of the evening silhou-
ette is one of the most interesting
of there movements and one wfiich
the smart customer will appreciate
and accept as she recognizes
greater sophistication. It is quite
as feminine as the more naive inter-
pretation which has heaped ruffle
upon raffle and flounce upon
flounce, giving unlimited skirt
width, but it is more controlled,
more subtle, more ta modern feel-
ing. It is evidently felt by design-
ers who study and know their cus-
tomers that women may be carried
away for a season or two by a pic-
turesque mood ta evening clothes,
but that they will revert as they
are now doing to lines which give
ttiWUBSSfa
grace rather than animation. Thta
does not mean that fullness is not
retained. There ta just as much
falls close to the body, veiling the
figure lines, rather than disguising
them.
One of the Influences which have
achieved the slimmer line for eve-
ning ta the growing approval for
low-placed fullness which was so
extentisvely endorsed aj mid-sea-
son openings, a movement which
permits a slim line from the should-
er to well below the hips. Another
is the use of fabrics such as chif-
fons, satins and laces which take
to soft folds.
