Most of the cotton in Denton
County is now in a thrifty corqli-
tion and Hie recent excessively hot
weather has aided greatly in re-
tarding the work of boll weevil, M
T Payne, County Agent said Sat-
urday. Most of the cotton that was
worked and cleaned out within a
reasonable time after the last
rains is now fruiting, he said
Weevil operation was considera-
bly retarded by the hot sun of the
past two weeks, but to that time
the infestation was heavy, ranging
from one to 10 per cent, Payne
laid.
"The work of the weevil will be
more limited In the new crop of
squares unless rain should set in.
but with a little wet weather a
’heavy infestation may be expected,”
he declared.
