At the populist call convention
last Saturday to nominate a com-
missioner. G. A. McNeil was
nominated for that office. The
ine/ting was held at Dolph. ,
. E. B. Rhodes received a mes- <
sage from Conroe saying bis <
mother was quite sick and he left <

Navasota expecting to take the
train for that place.
A meeting of inembeis of the
Baptist church was held Tuesday
evening td talk over and devise
means of placing a new roof op
the Baptist dhurch, the old one 4
being blown off by the storm. It 4
is estimated that it will take $250 <
and the members think it will be 4
raised io a short time. We do -
not wish to discourage our friends
undertaking, but it does seem to <
4 me that a little town like this
could afford to -unite in having
one church for the white? instead <
of the expense df four. A little
