Treat Your Merchant Right.
The idea presented by the fol-
lowing from the Caldwell Chron-
icle has been espoused frequently
by tbe Examiner; anil no cause
has yet been found why tbe faith
should be denounced, but on tbe
*" contrary all loyal citizens should
think of and heed it:
“There is an old spying that
“Competition is thfr* life of
trade.” but it depends upon the
nature of the competition. If»its
bassic principal ra to do justly and eve*? respect ajid sail
love honesty, I grant it is true.
But if its principal is to do a cut-
throat business, without consid-
ering the rights of others, then I
say it is as unjust as it can
be.
The interior merchants have
“carried” the people thropgh tbe
hardest part of the year. They
have sold them goods on the pros-
pect of a erop. Now, that there
is a little money in the country,
Houston gets a big “show” to at-
tract the people to that city in
order to get them to buy their
Christmas goods. This is not fair
nor just to the home merchant.
To the people I would say, go
to Houston if you wish, but when
you buy your goods. think of your
home merchant. He has faVored
you, now favur him. Do not ask
