The new course will start with the
opening of the next fall term. 4
There is no doubt that most of our
disease is what the medical fraternity
defines as “deficiency disease,” which
means)
they result of what we do not eat.
Since the habit of selecting what we
eat is developed in childhood the
school room seems the logical place to
reform all of us. If parents have
falie<l—and Hr looks as though they
have—then let the tail wag the dog
for . a--while. -A lot of parents have
gone back to school and college by
proxy—through their children. <.
W’hat we must do, and do right
away, is knock our palates senseless
and tasteless and get down to de-
termining what Is and what is not a
rational ration. Being an educational
problem of revolutionary import Je-
suits can nut, be obtained , overnight.
While waiting for the puWic schools
to fall, in parents must shoulder the
responsibility and seek s little enlight-
enment.* - '

We used to approach the. first of
By with a good deal of/ misgiving
and fear. It was a day of evil in-
tent, economic disruption and indus-
trial conflict.
NoW, curiously enough, May Day is
dedicated to conserving life instead of
destroying it. Its designation as
Child Health Day makes one wonder
what the delay has been ; why such a
budding, refreshing, sweet-scented
time of year was ever picked out for
starting things wrong. . r
Heaven bless the symbol and. the
slogan if they will stir us from our
lethargy and get us thinking and do-
ing something to save the lives of our
future citizens. The tots who are
now kicking the slats of their cribs
and the youngsters who are anxious-
ly looking forward to June and the
closing of school are the presidents,
secretaries, senators and teachers of

Secretary Herbert r Hoover, who
heads the America^. Health Associa-

difference of ours tn this way: “Mer-

hazards of business. But humanity
