It was with deep regret that the
citizens of Singleton learned of the
death of Stash Shook, son of Mr. and
Mrs. John Shook. His death occurred
in Hubbard City, Oct. 5, 1927, caused
from ptomaine poison.
.Deceased wasj^rip .to Grimes Coun-
ty, January 6, 1895, and was reared
here to be a fine and noble intelligent
young man. We owe to him our bless-
I ings for being one of our dear sol-
1 diets. He entered tlie war in May
(1918. was with the 3f» Inf.. Co. F„ 90

J fellowmen fall dead, some severely
j wounded and some slightly wounded.
I The division was under fire from Aug.
20 to Nov. 11, with the exception of
seven days occupied in changing sec
tors. The day before Armistice was
signed, the enemy threw into line its
last reserve division on the westeren
front. There were 2,049 men gassed
in the division he was in, he l>eing one
of the number.
We are proud to know his division
was twenty-second to reach France,

tillery captured, thirteenth in "the
number of machine guns captured and
fourteenth in both the nnmber of prl-
sojiers captured and total advance.
The silent hero of ours now lies at
rest in the Catholic cemetery at An-

He is survived by his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John 8hook. five brothers of

With heartfelt sympathy we mourn
with them in the loss of their beloved
