FIRST BIKE WINNER—Tony Apel, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Curt Apel of Burleson, was the first winner
in the annual Star Bicycle contest. Tony was the
first to sell the required 15 new subscriptions.
Second to win a new bike was Marene Couch, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. James Couch. The contest is still
open and will end in July. Those already signed up
by the end of June will be allowed time to complete
the contest, however.

Funeral Held For
Services for Stacy Vin-
son, 17-year-old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Vinson
of 105 SE Moody in Bur-
leson, were held Saturday
in First Baptist Church.
The Burleson youth
was struck by a car as
he walked across U.S. 77
12 miles south of La-
Grange in South Central
Texas about 2 p.m.
Thursday, June 4.
He and four of his
friends, all students at
Burleson High School,
were returning from a
vacation trip to Port
Aransas when the acci-
dent occured.

Funeral services for
Mrs. George E. Bransom
Sr., 236 W. Ellison, were
held at 3 p.m. Saturday
at First United Metho-
dist Church. She died
Thursday, June 4, in
Johnson County Memorial
Hospital at Cleburne. She
was 75.
Burial was in Burleson
Cemetery under direction
of Crosier Pearson Fu-
neral Home of Cleburne.
Mrs. Bransom was
born in Hill County on
Sept. 9, 1894, the daugh-
ter of Benjamin F. and
Mary Turner McMillan.
She and George Bransom
Sr. were married in Den-
ton on Jan. 26, 1913. He
is chairman of the board
of Farmers and Mer-
chants State Bank.
Mrs. Bransom was a
member of First United
Methodist Church of Bur-
leson and was active in
all work of her church
including the Ladies Mis-
sionary Society. She was
a member of the Order of
the Eastern Star and the
Eumathian Study Club.
Surviving in addition to
her husband are two sons,
George E. Bransom Jr.
and Robert N. Bransom,
both of Burleson; three
sisters, Mrs. N.B. Hall
of Rust, Mrs. A.K. Mar-
ney of Stephenville, and
Mrs. Frank Smith of Fort
Worth; three grandchil-
dren and a niece, Mrs.
Clyde Hurst of Burleson.

Monday for a three-week
tour of Europe where they
will visit Church of
Christ missions and mis-
sionaries under the aus-
pices of the national
Youth Outreach Organiza-
tion.
They are Paula Gilbert
and Donna Snider, both
16, the daughters of Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Gilbert of
Rt. 2, and Mr. and Mrs.
A.E. Snider of Garden
Acres.

Tonight
City Council Thursday
(tonight) will hold public
hearings in connection
with the proposed annex-
ation of three small
tracts, a zoning change
request and a correction
to zoning ordinance con-
cerning mobile homes.
Annexation hearing will
deal with the M.D. Payne
tract, the new Bartlett
Park which is near the
Payne land and the area
which includes the junc-
tion of 1-35 and State
Highway 174.
Other items on the a-
genda appear routine.
The May financial re-
port will be given along
with monthly reports on
the police, and fire de-
partments, corporation
court and building per-
mits.
The agenda makes
mention of no plans to
discuss a rumored ad-
ministrative change.

Gilbert of Rt. 2, Box 354, Burleson. They will visit
many places of interest including Church of Christ

son and Mrs. Donna
Smith, all of Burleson;

Monterrey and received
her masters degree from

in San Antonio. Dian al-
ready has a bachelor's
and master’s degree
from TCU and hopes to
get her master’s in Span-
ish while in Mexico at
Tecnologico of Monter-
