How should Christians respond
or react to people who want to do
evil or want to promote evil. Il is
very difficult, because we can make
Biblical and logical points but they
might strongly disagree For many
people, they believe that truth is
relative and that they can believe
whatever they want to believe
Love is the best response But
we need to make sure that it is the
Biblical love that God demonstrates

Ray Roberts area have joined
together to present “Worship in
the Wilderness” at 8:30 a.m. each
Sunday at both Isle de Bois and
Johnson Branch units of Lake
Ray Roberts State Park.
According to Butch Potts,
the interdenominational
ministry was begun to provide
worship and fellowship among
campers at the parks and was
inspired by Luke 5:16, where
Jesus went into the wilderness
for prayer and worship.
“The effort began in
September of 1998, as an
extension of the ministries of
First Baptist Church of Sanger
and Calvary Baptist Church in
Pilot Point, and continued
throughout the fall until the
cooler weather arrived and park
attendance waned,” Potts stated.
The services recently
resumed for the spring and will
continue through the summer
»nd fall months, he added.
“The services combine Bible
study, special music and
preaching by area ministers and
lay people and last
approximately one hour, after
which time worshippers may
linger for fellowship with one
another,” Potts explained.
“Worship in the Wilderness”
is open to all visitors to the state
park. If a church is not currently
involved in this ministry but
would like to be, or if more
information is desired, please
call Potts at (940) 458-7002 and
ask about the Lake Ray Roberts
Ministry.

and details for us in His Word The
book of I Corinthians tells us much
about this love. In 12.31 we find,
“And now I will show you the most
excellent way ” There are many
ways to act towards other people,
but God tells us that the best way is
love.
Chapter 13:1-3 says, “If I
speak in the tongues of men and of the Great Shepherd Church,
angels, but have not love, I am only Written by Dottie Rambo
a resounding gong or a clanging and the late J.D. Sumner, The
cymbal If 1 have the gift of Three Nails tells the tale of a
prophecy and can fathom all Jewish family which is healed
mysteries and all knowledge, and if through the ministry of Jesus,
I have a faith that can move
mountains, but have not love, I am
nothing If I give all I possess to the
poor and surrender my body to the touch of comedy keeps this
flames, but have not love, I gain
nothing”
These verses tell us of the
priority of this special kind of love
The Greek word agape is used in
this passage and throughout the
Bible It does not refer to feelings
or romance Rather it refers to a
willful choice to give expecting
nothing in return It involves
sacrificing my needs for someone
else's needs It means wanting the
very best for someone else It is nOT
selfish but sacrificial It is
unconditional
These verses also tell us that
we can be very eloquent in
presenting our beliefs, but if we
don’t have genuine love for the
person we are talking to, then we’re
just making noise We can and
should know the truth that God has
recorded for us in the Bible, but if
we don’t have love for God and
other people, then there is no real
benefit We can choose to do all the
good deeds that we can think of,
but if we don’t do those good deeds
in real love, then we’ve really
accomplished little
God demonstrated true love for
us in Romans 5.8, “I
demonstrated His own love for us
in that while we were yet sinners.
Christ died for us.” Notice that He Calvary Baptist Church in Pilot
loved us when we were filthy. Point. The Rev. Roger Marsh
unclean, and shabby sinners. But yet officiated.
He chose to sacrifice His life for Mr. Hammonds was born
ours so that we might have eternal Oct. 27,1942, in Pilot Point, to the
life with Him Let’s follow His late Melvin and Faye Myers
example and live the most excellent Hammonds. He married Barbara
way. in the love of God O’Dell July 1, 1961, in Pilot
Point. He was a fence contractor.
Recently, Mr. Hammonds
was preceded in death by his
wife, who died Feb. 1, 1999. Also
preceding him in death were a
brother and a sister.
Survivors include two sons,
Mike Hammonds of Pilot Point
and Mitch Hammonds of
Sanger; a daughter, Sherri
Guerra of Krum; a brother, J.T.
Hammonds of Belcher, La.; a
sister, Jessie Williams of
Sherman; five grandchildren,
Amanda, Courtney and Joshua •
Hammonds, all of Sanger and
Jeremy and Jessica Hammonds,
of Pilot Point; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
