AI WAIL July
Mr. D. W. Kempner
Grand Hotel National
Lucerne, Switzerland
Dear Mr. Dan:
We have had so many inquiries regarding our tariff for
the coming season, in fact, Mr. Robert Hannay called up today and
wanted to know what our tariff was going to be, as he was buying
cotton in the valley and said he needed this information to know
whether or not to leave it in the valley or bring the cotton to
Galveston. He talked to Mr. Biron, who advised him that our tariff
would be in line with the tariff of the port compresses, some items
perhaps would be some lower than the other port compresses.
I am enclosing herewith sheet showing the M & P Press
tariff, which was effective May 1, 1947. New tariffs effective
August 1, 198 for Cotton Concentration Company and Gulf Atlantic
Warehouse and the proposed tariff in pencil for the M & P Press
for the coming season. This matter has been gone over very care-
fully with Mr. Biron and Mr. Harris.
For your ready information, I am enclosing herewith our
tariff, which is now in effect, as well as tariff of the Cotton Con-
centration Company and the Gulf Atlantic Warehouse Company.
We think that wve should not wait until September to have
our tariff printed and we would be very appreciative if you would
go over the enclosed and return as promptly as possible with your
recommendations.
Mr. Johnson is progressing satisfactorily with the repairs
to the compress; he has had some trouble with the footing on one
column. The Sprinkler man has been down and he has made a bid of
$700.00 to replace the pipe covering the part of the shed that is
being torn down by Mr. Johnson. The old pipe is unusable that has
been taken down. The topping of the floors will be completed next
week.
Vith kindest regards and every good wish, I am
Yours sincerely,
E4
