Washington, March 14.—The white
house was informed today through
members of the railway brotherhoods
that no authority to call a nation-
wide strike is now possessed by the
chiefs of their organizations. These
men say the authority to call a strike,
extended last summer, has expired.
A new vote would have to be taken
before a walkout could be ordered.
This has not been done.

In quizzing a venireman a Denver
prosecuting attorney, who was just
lentering into the trial of a woman,
asked the venireman if he objected to
hanging a woman. "Yes sir," replied
the man. "I came from the South and
we don't hang 'em down there.” That
man moved away perhaps before Dal-

"You are wasting your strength with
building here;
' Your journey will end with the end-

You never again will pass this way;
You've crossed the chasm deep and

Why build you this bridge at

The builder lifted his old gray head,
"Good friend, in the path I've come,”

"There followeth after me today,
