music, members of the local Gold
Star Mothers Chapter were enter-
tained by Edmund Lewis, accordi-
anist, who rendered a program of
appropriate holiday selections.
He also accompanied while the
group enjoyed a sing-song of
Christmas carols. Mrs. Catherine
Blain displayed a Cathedral
church, which played the hymn.
"Silent Night" and read the story
of Christmas.
Mrs. Vivian Reed presided over
the regular business, at which time
1953 reports were given. Contribu-
tions for the year, extended to
veteran's families as floral offer-
ings or gifts, totaled $206.00 Mrs.
Letha B. Dowel 1 was selected as
state color guard at the organiza-
tional convention, held recently in
San Antonio, and compliments wert
extended this chapter for being one
of three out of 12 in
the requested contributions to
Waco Veterans hospital.
Forty-two visits were reported.
The Bible was opened at Psalms:
118 for Carl Booth and William
Uandy. Flowers were placed by
Mrs. Julia Bandy for her son Her-
man Bandy.
Social chairman, Mrs. Grace
L'ubanks and co-chairman, Mrs.
Catherine Blain, served white
cake'squares and coffee. Gifts were
exchanged by members and three
goodwill offerings extended to
three families.
Fifteen mejnbers were present
and all of the eleven officers in
attendance.

Hosts For Tourney
HOUSTON, Dec. lit *t'.E>—The
annual National Intercollegiate
golf tournament will be held in
Texas for the first time next year,
at Houston's Brae Burn Country
Club June 20-26.
Ted Rayseur, director of athle-
tics at Northwestern University
and chairman of the NCAA golf
committee, made the announce-
ment here Friday.
Payseur said the committ un-
animously recommended that the
57th annual tournament be held
here and that the NCAA execu-
tive committee endorsed the re-
commendation.
Rice Institute and the Univer-
sity of Houston will be co-hosts
for the tournament.
