Hereford Music Study Gub’s
closing luncheon of the spring
season was held Monday at
Caison's Steak House, where
activities of the past club year
were reviewed.
Mrs. Sam Long presided in
the absence of Mrs. Wayne
Thomas, president. Each com-
mittee chairman gave a
summary of her task force's
accomplishments.
The club’s programs this year
have centered around the
romantic period of musk. Their
study encompassed lyric forms
as an expression of romanti-
cism, song and piano compo-
sers, opera and the post-roman-
tic period.
Special presentations staged
by the club included a sacred
musk program, an American
musk program and the Suzuki
violin recital. Serving on the
program committee were Mrs.
W.T. Carmichael and Mrs. Joe
Hacker.

Items for Merchants
The free enterprise class of Hereford High School will be
performing a service for local merchants Thursday night
while learning more about the business world during an
auction at the Community Center. The sale will commence at
7:30 p.m. and the publk is encouraged to attend.
A wide variety of merchandise, representing numerous
Hereford firms, will be placed on the auction block, to be
claimed by the highest bidder. Mike Hacker, a free enterprise
student, will act as auctioneer. *
Local businessmen will contribute 20 percent of their sales
to the HHS free enterprise dass. which has its own
corporation, complete with stock holders. Taught by Terry
Russell, the class studies the corporate and business system.
Mrs. Coupe Takes Trip
Joan Coupe of Hereford first-hand recommendations to
Travel Center recently returned Alaska-bound clients.
from a six-day trip to Alaska
sponsored by a travel organiza-
tion and participating tour
centers.
The travel agents met in
Seattle for a briefing and
reception, then were flown to
Juneau, Alaska's capital city,
the next morning. Trips were
made to Mendenhall Glacier,
Auke Lake and the state
museum.
Mrs. Coupe and other agents
then flew to Nome, in Arctic
Alaaka, where featured high-
lights were watching a dogsled
race and walking out on the
frozen Bering Sea. Entertain-
ment was supplied by the
famous King Island Eskimos,
demonstrating through song
and dance their rich Eskimo
heritage.
The last two days were spent
in Anchorage, where the
environs of the city were visited.
Key hotel accomodations were
also viewed, in order to give
