gument culminated yesterday in the
fatal shooting of Ed Finch, fanner,
by Fred Scott, automobile salesman.
The men formerly lived near each
other and had quarreled about a

Federal prohibition officers today,
engaged In a gun battle with alteg-'
ed rum runners on highway near
here, resulting in to death of an
alleged rum runner and serious
wounding of one of hie compan-
ions.
The officers, headed by E B. Nel-
son. reported three negroes in a
powerful automobile deliberately
wrecked the smaller car in which he
and hie companions were ridteg
and then opened fire.
In the volley that followed one
negro waa killed, another‘wounded,
and the third escaped. The officers
escaped unaeathed and used the
legroes* machine to haul the wound-
ed prisoner and tow the wrecked
