Film executives say this glut of
autumn movies is a testament to
Hollywood's robust health. U.S. and
Canadian box office returns are
already on a record pace this year,
with a total of 150 films expected to
be released.
"The last couple of falls there's
been a lot of product," said Tom
Sherak, distribution president at 20th
Century Fox. "The reason for that is
this industry is very healthy right
now, and there are lots of pictures
being produced.”
Adding to the heavy fall turnout
was this summer's Olympics, which
caused distributors to delay the
release of some films A crowd of big
films battled it out earlier in the sum-
mer.

into a lot of people in terms of open-
