Pietech’s Celebrate
Golden Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. August Pietsch,
who were married on Novem-
ber 20, 1900, at Warda, cele-
brated their golden wedding
anniversary at the fair grounds
on Sunday, Nov. 19. Rev. Paul
Eifert officiated at the ceremo-
ny in which Mr. and Mrs.
Pietsch renewed their marriage
vows.
Mrs. Pietsch was the former
Miss Theresia Jurk of Warda
and following their marriage,
she and Mr. Pietsch lived in
Nechanitz until four yaers ago
when they retired from farming
and moved to La Grange.
Their nine children are Mrs.
Willie Ahlschlager, Mrs. Ernest
Hobratschk and Mrs. Willie
Lehmann, all of La Grange;
and Alfred, Robert, Anton and
Clarence Pietsch of Nechanitz
and Edwin and Vastine Pietsch
of La Grange.
A two-tiered embossed wed-
ding cake topped with a gold
“50” centered the serving table
which also held arrangements
of yellow chrysanthemums. A
barbecue dinner was served at
noon and refreshments of cakes,
cookies and coffee, during the
afternoon.
Among the 150 guests pres-
ent were Mr. and Mrs. August
Jurk of Warda who were at-
tendants at the wedding. Out-of-
town guests present included
Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Kruse of
Brenham; Mr. and Mrs. Oswald
Tschatchula, Mr. and Mrs. Cal-
vin Tschatchula of Winchester;
and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Schmidt,
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Schmidt
and son and Mr. and Mrs. Mil-
ton Steglich and daughter of
Serbln.
Luther League Stages Rally At Shiner
The annual Fall Rally of the
Synodical Luther League of the
United Lutheran Church of
America was held at the United

Shiner, of which the Rev. Edwin

day afternoon the leaguers at-
tended the football game, Shiner
High School vs. St. Ludmila’s
Academy. At five o’clock every-
one met at the church after
which they were taken for a
hayride to Welhausen Dam,
where chicken barbecue and all
the trimmings were served. The
evening program had been pre-
pared by five Shiner Leaguers Luthei
who are attending Texas Luthe- -
ran College at Seguin. Wilfred
Menke, vice-president of the
State Luther League was mas-
ter of ceremonies. The TLC
choir quartet rendered several
selections and other musical
numbers were heard. The prin-
cipal speakers for the evening
was the Rev. Maynard Silseth,
professor at TLC who spoke on
the Rally theme, "Grant Us
Thy Peace Amid the World’s
Confusion.”
Sunday morning everyone at-
tended the inspiring Sunday
School Class taught by Sister
Bernice Pantel of TLC. She
chooses her topic from the book
of Ephesians. Pastor Oehlke de-
livered the sermon for the
morning service. The women of
the church served the noon
meal in the High School Gym.
Paul Vofct of Victoria gave a
very interesting talk about the
experience he had this past
summer while working in Ame-
rica. He was one of the eighteen
______,«ran Students chosen from
the United States and Canada
by the Lutheran World Feder-
ation to go to Europe as am-
bassadors of good will.
The next convention of the
Luther League of America will
be held on Aug. 13-17, 1951,
in Iowa City, Iowa, according
to Billie Grace Ungerer of Aus-
tin, who is “On to Iowa” pro-
moter for the Texas League.
The Swiss Alp Leaguers pre-
sented a skit on “The Luther
League Emblem” after which
the Rally came to a close with
the singing the L. L. Rally
Hymn, “O Christians! Leagued
Together.” Before departing for
home all enjoyed a lunch, served
by the women of the church.
Those attending from the
Swiss Alp League were Harold
Foerster and Clarence Hagens,
who are students at TLC, Elmo
and John Henry Mlnzenmeyer;
George and Lillian Hagens;
Shirley Ann Rabe, Clara Roitsch
and Leona Bauer.

honored their son, Danny Lee
Mozisek, with a turkey dinner

Cernoseks Observe
50th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Cemosek
observed their 50th wedding an-
niversary on Monday, Nov. 20,
at a Mass said for them at the
Sacred Heart Catholic Church
and by receiving Holy Commu-
nion. Mr. and Mrs. Cemosek
were married at Ammannsville
on Nov. 20, 1900. They have
made their home in La Grange
since 1940 when Mr. Cemosek
retired/from farming.

ber 2, at 8:30 united in mar-
riage Miss Mary Rosalie Hrus-
ka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John J. Hruska of Cuero, for-
merly of Ellinger, and Frederick
Alois Mikulenka, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Anton L. Mikulenka of
Hallettsville.
The Rev. Wm. Jansen
formed the ceremony.
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride wore a gown of
white satin with fitted waist-
line, yoke of embroidered lace,
long sleeves terminating in-
ponts over the hands and a full,
flared skirt trimmed with lace
and an extending into a cathe-
dral train. A crown of lace and
orange blossoms held her fin-
gertip veil. She carried a prayer
book overlaid with a glamellia
and showered with satin stream-
ers and stephanotis. She wore
a mother of pearls cross, a gift
of the groom.
Matron of honor was Mrs.
James Mikulenka and the
bridesmaid was Miss Mary Ann
Tobias, both of Columbus. Their
gowns of moss green and yel-
low were fashioned identically
with fitted bodice with draped
collar, cap sleeves and a full
skirt with scalloped hemlinp
caught with flowers at several

headdresses of net
ring ceremony at and carried bronze chrysanthe-

Serving as best man was
James Mikulenka of Columbus,
brother of the groom. Grooms-
man was Johnny Hruska of
Cuero, brother of the bride.
The reception was held at the
home of the bride’s parents. A
beautifully decorated square
wedding cake was embossed
with pink sugared roses and
topped with miniature arch with
silver bells in the center and
tiny blossoms and fem. Baked
turkey with all the trimmings
was served to the immediate
families.
For travel the bride chose
an autumn rust suit with black
accessories and a glamellia cor-
sage. After the wedding trip the
couple will be at/home in Co-
lumbus.
