Galveston, during the dates of the
18th to the 25th inclusive of the com-
ing month, is to be in the throes of
the Merchants’ Carnival, the two main
attractions of this mid-winter event
being the visit of the Utah and Flor-
ida, two of the dreadoughts of the
navy, and the Nat Reiss Carnival com-
pany.
As was anticipated in the Tribune
of Thursday afternoon, the contract
with the big showman has been made
and the general, excellence, combined
with the moderate price charged for
the notable production, will necessarily
drtiw the crowds. Coupled with this
ave the presence of the battleships and
the special Christmas week shopping
inducements.
Tne K. K. K., under which myster-
ious order the event is being formed,
asks no financial aid of any sort from
the merchants of the city, seeking
only their hearty co-operation. It will
be extensively advertised, particularly
over the coast country, and results are
expected to be more than gratifying.
The three Ks has secured the follow-
ing gentlemen to manage the big show;
Messrs. F. B. Erhard, W. N. Fritter, M.
B. Sweeney, R. Lee Kempner awl M.
Douglas; An important downtown
juncture is being secured for the pur-
pose, ci the exhibition, but it is not
practicable to be announced the exact
location at thre pres’ent time.
