AUSTIN (ft — State Rep. Bin
Hollowell hurled bitter criticism at
Gov. John Carnally Monday, then
announced he will run against Lt.
Gov. Preston Smith, when he dis-
missed as a “follow-along Lieuten-
ant governor.’’
HoUowuB, a 37-year-old Grand
Saline resident, said he would join
with Houston oilman Stanley Woods
on a May 7 democratic primary
ticket. Woods announced for gov-
ernor last week.
Woods, who was present when
Hollowell made his announcement,
said they would kick off their cam-
paign tonight with a television pro-
gram shown in most Texas cities.
Hollowell virtually ignored Smith
in the news conference at which he
announced his candidacy. He cen-
tered his fire, instead, on Connally,
whom he frequently criticized dur-
ing the 1965 legislature.
“Gov. Connally ignores the con-
stitution, he ignores the legislature,
he nites with an iron firt,*\said -----—_ --„
