cent of the cars on the road
are equipped with them — studies
have also shown that they are only
used about half of the time,
motorists faU to use these
devices on short trips, and th
be a dangerous practice.
The American Insurance Associa-
tion estimates that mon than half
the traffic accidents causing in-
juries and deaths occur at speeds
less than 40 miles per hour, and
that three out of four traffic deaths
occur within 25 miles of home. This
is not to suggest that people should
drive faster. On the contrary, it Is
to point out the Importance of using
belats at all times, even on the
shortest tripe.
Seat belts will help to make you
,a better driver. For, with children
and passengers “belted in,” there
will be less distraction enabling you
to give complete attention to the

moaning and a groaning with stiff
joints. He says that it is not the
years that has hurt him, it’s the

The “community night" at the
center on Saturday night was well
attended, although we were in hop-
es that we would have some more
of the Lone Oak families join us.
Looks like we are not being very
successful in pleading with our
neighbors to come and enjoy the
feUowahip and fun with us. Thofe

wquld personally like to thank Mr.
and Mrs. Clyde Haley for all the
cftpenter work they have been
doing over at the eenter. They
have underpinned the new stage
and built two qew doorsteps. If
the rest of us had done as much
work there aS Mr. and Mrs Haley
and Nathan Knapp then so much
more would have been accomplish-
ed. We really do need a volunteer
to bed and tape the new stage,
someone that knows what they are
doing. Whan finished, we believe
that the stage wil be a real asset
to our musicals. Be making your

Huey and I had a real big sur-

Mr. and Mrs. 1. B. Hinkle of Cros-
byton. and her mother, Mrs. O. O.
Butler of Lingleville, visited with
us. It was the first time we ever
met any of them, and it was just
like greeting “family”. They did
not seem Like strangers to us, it
was just love at first sight, they
are that kind of people. We are
proud that they are subscribers to
the Empire-Tribune and keep up
with our community activities and
they plan to attend our musical
some time, and we hope very soon.
