Predicting tomorrow is impossible. But preparing for it isn’t. You
can come to college uncertain of what career path you will eventually choose.
But choosing the right school is critical. Choose one that offers a wide as-
sortment of specialties. One with a solid core of courses which prepares you
for your specialty when you choose it.
TOMORROW’S CAREERS
FOR A CHANGING AMERICA
At The College, we’ve designed a program which has tomorrow in
mind and you in mind — 37 undergraduate programs designed to prepare you
with the most practical, hands-on education. Our Business and Professional
Studies division offers the most comprehensive choice for tomorrow’s
professional. You can choose from nineteen undergraduate professional
specialties in business, applied arts and sciences, and education. That’s the
Brainpoweredge.
Not surprisingly, Business Administration is the largest and fastest-
growing department at The College. Our professors believe in practical,
hands-on teaching methods in eight areas of concentration and emphasis.
Specialties which will prepare you to take the first step up on the career ladder
of success.

marketing mix.

community agencies. Acquire an understanding for the spirit of entrepre-

Teachers are leaders, and leaders know how to motivate. You’ll
develop your skills as a leader in a small-class environment in which your
special abilities are recognized and developed. The College believes that
individual dignity promotes social justice, and that today’s teachers are on the
front line of developing individual dignity — Brainpower.
Teacher Education is one of the major programs at The College
with an emphasis on a broad general education as a foundation for a mastery
of teaching skills in the area of academic specialization. TEA and NCATE
approved programs to prepare you for certification and teaching at all levels,
with four separate areas of endorsement.
13. Elementary Education. Preparing you to teach children in the first
through eighth grades or pre-kindergarten through grade six — you choose the
option. This major is the basis for specialization in Early Childhood and
Special Education.
14. Early Childhood An interdisciplinary field of study preparing you to
teach pre-kindergarten through grade 6 as well as 0-4-year-old handicapped
and non-handicapped children. Students may also decide to complete an
elementary certificate with a traditional teaching specialization and add a
kindergarten endorsement.
15. Generic Special Education. A specialization in elementary education or
one of two teaching fields for secondary education teachers. Option for
teaching the mildly handicapped, the severely/profoundly handicapped, and
severely emotionally disturbed/autistic children.
16. Reading. Specialize in the reading process. Help students, through
appropriate assessment and instructional efforts, to read efficiently — and to
love it! An 18-24 semester hour option at the elementary or secondary levels.
The Professional Reading Certificate is available at the graduate level.

technical and managerial knowledge base to solve fundamental
business problems for careers in both business and public
