For Vice-Pres.-
Mr. Max Lewis in taking over the gavel of chairman
pro-tern, called for nominations for the various posts:
Ritual Committee: Mr. Max Lewis, Chairman, reported that
there were no matters needing the attention of his Committee.
The name of Mr, Morris Catchmanwas offered
by Mr. J.B. Greenfield, and the name of
Mr. Moe Mandelwas offered by Mr. Streusand;
Mr. Mandel however, requested the withdrawal
of his name in favor Mr. Catchman. A motion
was thereupon offered by Mr. Sam Rosenberg
and seconded by Mr. Chas. A. Keilin, that
the name of Mr. Morris Catchman be accepted
by acclamation, the motion being unanimously
carried.
Mr. Ben Streusand offered the nomination of
^r. Max Lewis and moved that such nomination
be accepted by acclamation. Motion was
seconded by Kir. Sam Rosenberg and was unanimously
carried.
Cemetery & Building Committees: Mr. Ben Susholtz,
Chairman, had nothing to report at this time.
Under Unfinished Business, Mr. Streusand referred
to the Congregation’s drive for purchase of new property,
and stated that he thought nothing should be done during the
present period due to the drive for funds for the United
Jewish Campaign which should receive preferred attention, but
that efforts be doubled on completion of that campaign to
bring our efforts to a successful close.
The next order of business as announced by Mr.
Streusand, was the election of offlc ers to serve the Con-
gregation for the ensuing year. He relinquished the Chair
to Mr. Max Lewis, Vice-president, in order to be able to
speak from the floor. Mr. Streusand thereupon briefly spoke
on the period of his office as President and thanked all
those who had assisted in bestowing this honor upon him.
He regretted the necessity of not permitting his name to
be placed for re-election as had already been intimated,
due to pressing business matters and to ill-health. He
thanked the Officers and members of the Board for their
loyalty and the co-operation he had received during his two
years of office, and expressed the hope that everyone would
give to the best of their ability in supporting the incoming
President. Upon a motion offered by Kir. D. M. Gordon and
seconded by Mr. Louis Bale, Mr. Streusand was accorded a
rising vote of thanks for his work in heading the administra-
tion of the Congregation during the past two years. The
motion was carried with applause.
