Miss Mildred Stegmann prospec-
tive bride of Alfred R. Noeren- ■
berg was honored with a surprise
miscellaneous shower on her birth-
day Thursday. August 1st, at the
home of Mr: and Mrs. Orso Ott-
mer. Hostesses were Mrs- Orso
Ottmer, mother of the bride-to-be
and Mrs. Herman Peters.
The honoree was given a pink
and blue ruffled basket filled with
gifts and "carried by Annette
Noerenberg, niece of the groom-
to-be, Arthur Edward Henze and
Marvin Jurries. Miss Stegmann
then unwrapped the many lovely
and useful gifts. She expressed her
appreciation for them.
Cakes, cookies and sandwiches
and hot coffee were served.

HOLDS MEETING
The Zionsville Luther League
met Tuesday, August 6, at 8:30
p. m. for their monthly business
and devotional meeting. The meet-
ing opened with a hymn, scripture
reading was led by Bertha Lea
Lehde and the prayer by C. B.
merhVefF present. The topic for the
night "Gambling Does Not Pay"
was discussed by Marvin Mueller.
The meeting was then turned,
over to the president, C. B. Schroe-
der. He called on Bubba Lehr- .
mann for his report on his trip to
Ames, Iowa, also on Ruth Evelyn
'Schroeder for her report on Lead-
ership Training School, They both
expressed their thanks for the
League supporting them on their
trip which they enjoyed.

The St. Matthew Lutheran
Ladles Aid and Women** Mission-
ary Society met for its regular
meeting on August 6th with a
good attendance and the follow-
ing visitors. Mrs. Melvin Boortz,
Mrs. H. C. Poehimann and Miss
Dorothy Sommers.
■“ The meeting opened with a song
and prayer and the Bible read-
ing was taken from Psalm 119.
The program for the day con-
sisted pf the following numbers:
Reading, Mrs. Christoph Buerger;*
song, by group of Isdies; reading,
Mrs- E. A. Schroeder and piano
solo, Mrs. J. H. Barrett.
The Magazine Quiz was con-
ducted by the chairman, Mrs. W.
C. Lueckemeyer, who then opened
the business meeting.
Following the reading of a let-
ktor from the Brenham Group
Thairman of theFederation,
it was voted to send $10 to help
defray expenses of our delegate
from the group to the National
convention. It was then decided to
have a work meeting on August
20, to order to clean up and work
at the cemetery. The following
ladies will serve refreshments on
that afternoon; Mrs. John Winkel-
mann, Mrs. Fritz Weghorst and
Mrs. Fred Weghorst.
A new sweeping committee vol-
unteered to serve for the coming
months: Mrs Emil J. Schwarse,
Mrs. F. C. Sommers, and Mrs. M.
d. Stegemueller.
A report was given by the
treasurer, compiled from the vol-
unteer solicitors who gathered
funds for the purchase of new
altar and pulpit coverings.
The Education Chairman pre-
pared a reading chart and urged
all members to read at least one
book before the year is up. There
being no further business, the
meeting closed with a song and
prayer.
Hostesses for the social hour
were Mrs. Minnie Schwarze, Mrs.
John Schwarze and Mrs. Emil
Schwarze.
Happy birthday was sung to
Mrs. Minnie Lehmann, Mrs. Will
Heidemann, Mrs- Minnie Schwarze,
Mrs. John Schwarze, Mrs. Fritz
