•Three persons were given suspend-
ed sentences by District Judge How-
ard P. Green Wednesday afternoon
in the first day of the criminal ses-
sion of the District Court. The
Court was then adjourned until
next Wednesday, according to
Wayne Hartman, county attorney.
Orvll James Kanns, who entered
a plea of not guilty to a charge of
knowingly passing as true a forged
instrument, was found guilty by the
jury, which recommended a five-
year suspended sentence.
Arthur M. Green, appointed as
Kami’s attorney by the Court Wed-
nesday morning, stressed the fact
in his final talk to the jury that
Karms was only 17 years old and
that no effort had been made to
certify whether or not the checks
passed under the signature of W. C.
Fields were good.
Erwin L. “Flunk” Sims. Negro,
pleaded guilty to a charge of felony
theft at McLarty’s Red and White
and was given a five-year suspend-

Curtis Lee Robin^son entered a
plea of guilty to a charge of burg-
