WASHINGTON. July 14.—Presi-
dent Woodrow Wilson has made a
formal bid for the votes of the late
Progressive party.
As this party failed to name a
candidate for the presidency follow-
ing the refusal of Roosevelt to run, it
is incumbent on them to turn to one
of the old parties. It is thought that
of their more than 4,000,000 votes
cast in the election in 1912, that the

From McKinney Courier-Gazette:
On yesterday evening we published
the challenge of Hon. Andrew
Randell for a joint discussion
Hon Sam Rayburn:
We are informed by friends of Mr.
Rayburn that he only reached the
State Sunday and that prior to his
arrival his campaign committee at
Bonham had made speaking dates
for him covering practically all the
time up to the day of the primary,
the Collin county dates having been
published in Sunday’s Dallas News,
and for these reasons Mr. Rayburn
declines to divide his time with Mr.
Randell. His reply to Mr. Randell is
as follows:
“Hon Andrew Randell,
Texas.—Dear Sir: As you are
aware I have just reached the State;
having been detained in Washington
on official business. I am being op-
posed in this campaign by two can-
didates both of whom have already
thoroughly canvassed the entire dis-
trict, presented their views from al-
most every stump, and who are en-
titled to equal consideration at my
hands and having already announced
speaking dates that require practi-
cally every hour of my time until the
22nd, I respectfully decline your
proposition for a joint discussion,
since my acceptance would render
absolutely impossible for me to cover
the district in the few days remain-
ing. Respectfully,

WONDERFUL SPEAK-
Dr. W. L. PIPPEN, Dentist
Kidney disease is too dangerous to
neglect. At the first sign of back-
ache, headache, dizziness or urinary
disorders, you should give the weak-
ened kidneys prompt attention. Eat
little meat, take things easier and use
a reliable kidney tonic. There’s no
other kidney medicine so well recom-
mended as Doan's Kidney Pills. Com-
merce people rely on them,
one of the many-
Commerce people.
J. Armistead, carpenter, S. Wash-
ington street, Commerce, says: “I
cannot describe what I suffered from
headaches and difficulty with the kid-
ney secretions. I was annoyed at
night, having to get up many times.
Doan’s Kidney Pills, procured from
the Hundley Drug Co., relieved the
headaches and the kidney action be-
came quite regular.” (Statement
given July 8, 1908.)
OVER SIX YEARS LATER, Mr.
Armistead said: “I have not used
Doan’s Kidney Pills for a long time
as I have had no need of them.”

since American cotton has been denied 1
to Germany the Bagdad region has
been the chief source of cotton for I
German arsenals. Cotton from this
district, probably the last avenue to
Germany open to this vital necessity
for Teutonic explosives, has been
steadily crawling over the Bagdad

observed American cotton as contra-

Germany will order the Turks to
