WASHINGTON, Nov. 27.—All of-
fers of gift turkey for the White
House Thanksgiving table have been
declined with thanks. President and
Mrs. f'rwtlicltfo will hnw OWD
For many years it has been
custom ot admirers of the nations'
chief executive Io compete for the
honor ot providing the bird for his
Thanksgiving dinner. Some times
“noueh turkey has been received at
the White House to load down the
tables of the whole staff of employes.
But Mr. Coolidge does not regard the
practice as one that should bq en-
couraged.
Exc< pt for attendance at religious I
services, the president and his wife [
expect to spend Thanksgiving quiet-
1> at home. Their two sons in school I
at Pennsylvania, will not return to
the White House for the Thanksgiv-
ing dinner and there will be no house
guests.
The good weather of the past two
weeks has resulted in great progress
being made by the Gulf States Tele-
phone Company’s forces on the con-
struction work now under way
within the next few days they will
be cutting the lines of the subscrib-
ers into the new cables.
This will make all lines metallic,
and of course may cause occasional
interruption in service, on account of
having to make complete changes in
the wiring. However, the men in
charge give assurance that this will
only be temporary and only for a few
hours at the most.
If in the event your service is not
restored, after a reasonable tkne it
will be appreciated by the manage-
ment if reported to the manager.
When this work shall have been com-
pleted and the new telephones
placed along with the new switch-
board the change to the common bat-
tery, or flash light system will
made without further interruption.

I Kidney sickness often runs you
down to the verge of collapse before
! you know the cause. When you seem
unable to pin your mind to any task,
your back aches and you cannot do an
ordinary day’s work. It is time to ask
yourself this question: “Are my kid-
neys working right?" The answer
may be easily found.
Weak kidneys slacken their filter-
ing work and the uric acid circulates
with the blood, in many cases, attack
ing brain, nerve, muscles and
organs. Don’t wait for the i
trouble—begin using Doan’s
Pills when you feel the
ache or first notice urinary disord-
ers. This remedy has given new life
and strength to thousands.
Proof of merit in a Commerce citi-
zen's statement.
Mrs. L. C. Sttxnm, Pecan St., Com-
merce, says: “I suffered with a se-
vere ache in the small of my back
sometime ago and had headaches. I
found Doan's Kidney PiUs to give me
great relief. I would just have to
take a few Doan’s and the pain in
the small of my back would disappear
as well as the other symptoms.”
