SPELLING MATCH.
Tuesday morning was a gala day
for the school children.
in chapel Mr. Scott announced that
there would be a spelling match be-
tween the Seniors and seventh grade.
SO seventeen of the seventh grade
were put on the stage and then the
seniors. We all fell into spelling and
we had a very hot timei The seventh
graders cheated, Oh, so badly.
However, when the end came there
were three seniors on the seventli
grade side and five seventh graders
on the senior side. But yet the sev-
enth graders say they beat — but
they were badly beaten. We beat the
seventh grade so bad that it would
have humiliated them, so Mr. Scott
gave it to them.

Palacios, Texas, May 12.—The re-
vival which is lasing held here by
Rev. Sid Williams under the auspieces
of the Baptist church is creating a
'great deal of interest. In the Sunday
'Services there were 32 professions of
faith, 15 of which were received into
the church by faith and three others
by letter. The crowds became so
great that it was necessary to move to
the Baptist Young People’s Union an- I
ditorium.
Rev. Williams preached on “The
(Divinity of Christ” to an audience of
near a thousand people.
A unique feature of Sunday's ser-

Mr. E. L. Hawkins, of Sargent,
after several days spent in the city
with home folks, returned to Sargent
this morning,

faced girl, quietly but prettily dressed
in black She greeted Mrs. X by name
and calmly seated herself without in-
vitation. saying: “Will you pardon
me while I readjust my hat, the wind
is so very high?’’
The hostess vainly tried to recall
her visitor. Her name meant noth-
ing and her next words threw no light
on her identity.
"I see you have a dear little paro-
queet; is he tame?" she asked.
The hostess, still wondering, said
the bird was quite tame. Then her
caller began:
"I suppose you have heard of me,
Mrs. X.”
“I am afraid I haven't,” was the
reply, coupled with an engaging smile
to offset any suspclon of rudeness
‘Then you haven't heard of the
great movement we are engaged In.
We are trying to Interest children and
grown people, too, in Sunday school
work."
Mrs. X thought she saw the ray of
light; of course, the rector must
sent her visitor.
"You see," said the girl tn dulcet
tones, "so many clergymen and moth-
ers have told us how impossible it was
to get the children to come to Sunday
school, because they found the Bible
bo uninteresting.”
As she spoke she lessened her long
coat. "Now I have here,” she went
on, “something I should like to show
you," and she drew from a pocket in
tire lining a large, black volume.
At last Mrs. X understood. Her
amiable caller was a book agaaL
