BOOK CLUB MEETS IN
JOHN P. WARD HOME
On Monday evening, Oct. 19,
Marie Ward hosted the Book
Club, with Frances Davis re-
viewing Frank G. Slaughter's
most recent novel, "Lorena".
His masterly story telling abili-
ties are revealed in a gripping
account of the Civil War-torn
South. "Lorena" is an unfor-
gettable heroine—beautiful, pas-
sionate, faced with a challenge
that only ,a woman of her re-
markable strength and spirit
could meet. In this novel can
be seen the author, one of
America's leading historical
writers, at his exciting best.
At the social hour, a delicious
refreshment plate was served to
the following: Myrtle Commons,
Peggy Lindley, Mae Payne. Bob-
bye Mathis, June Adkins, Afton
Martin, Nadine Bryson, Vynom-
ma Clark, Margie Lott, Sally
Ruth McAfee, the reviewer, and
hostess.—Reported.
