it contains everything. An ex-
citing horse race? You said
it. A race between two Mis-
sissippi stern-wheelers is pic-
tured with full value for the
suspense. It is a vivid scene.
Then you have the smashing]fail—so rapid is the action and
episode of the fast mail, from
which the play and picture ob-
tained its title—an episode
which shows the hero leaping
from an auto to the bridge of
a locomotive and making an-
other leap from the engine to
a car. Finally the picture af-

This is the time of year when one .looks
two ways—in retrospect and in prospect.
Looking backward, we congratulate ourselves

a I What if it is a .-tory show-
ing the triumph of virtue over
villiany? What if the hero
has to flirt with viojenl death
to save his sweetheart ? What
does matter is the fact that
you may class it a- sure-fire
entertainment. "The Fast
i Mail” will be remembered for
j that Mississippi shot with tin
boats racing onti Vicksburg.
The hero urges the -kipper to
make speed. Will he i-atcl; the
leader which is carrying the
villain? The latter’.- boat ex-
plodes through the *pre-snre
put upon its boiler. The rail-
i road incident is rip-roaring
