supper at the VFW Hall in
Canadian.
Handsome silver trophy
buckles were presented to each
man in recognition of their long
volunteer service to the
Canadian Fourth of July Rodeo.
Barton and Stickley have
been the official timekeepers
for the Fourth of July Rodeo
here during almost all of its
postwar years...Barton since
1946, Stickley since 1949.

home this week. Sunday guests

and Mrs Bryan Eckles.
The office of resident
engineer for the Texas
Highway Department in Cana
dian is going to be closed as a
part of the state department's
drastic cut-back in operations
at the end of this year.
The announcement was made
from Amarillo last week end by
A.L. McKee, Amarillo District
Engineer for the State
Department of Highways and
Public Transportation.
Offices of resident engineer
in both Canadian and Perryton
are scheduled to get the axe.
The Perryton office will be
combined with Canyon, and
headquartered at Canyon
under supervision of Lewis R.
Lloyd. And the Canadian and
Borger offices will be combined
with that office to be located in
Borger under supervision of
Jay L. Hawley jr.
Affected by the move in the
Canadian office are Resident
Engineer J.S. (Jiggs) Ullom,
Wayne Baker, David Henwood,
Bobby Cockrell, Kelly Wilson
and Grover Crosier.
Resident offices in Dalhart
and Pampa will remain in
operation with some re-
structuring of personnel, Mc-
Kee said.
McKee said 34 employees on
the Amarillo District payroll of
542 persons have been asked to
find other employment by
December 31, 1975.
The three Amarillo resident
engineer offices will be
consolidated immediately into
one Amarillo office under the
supervision of George J.
Cannon.
