Channel 3 on Canadian
Cablevision will soon be in use
for several hours each week as
Canadian High School speech
department students from a
class in radio and television
production begin telecasting.
The class, under the direction
of Larry Guffey, has been
studying script writing, opera
tion of radio and television
equipment, news production
and gathering and conducting
of interviews during the
regular class periods. In
addition they have been taping

school, middle school and high
school in order to gain
experience in videotaping.
The class of about a dozen
students has gained some
insight into the possibilities and
limitations of telecasting.
Delivery of a "mini-studio"
has been expected since
November. Use of this
equipment will enable students
to learn to use three cameras
for fade-ins and angle changes.
The programs then will be
offered live from one of the
speech department studios, or
on tape from elsewhere in the
school system.
At a regular meeting of the
School Board held last Tuesday
evening the board adopted a
policy submitted by the
administration on Television
Program Production. The
policy will be used as a method
of control of use of the
school-owned television facili-
ties and calls for programming
which will reflect a positive
