Austin, Tex , Sept. 10. —R. T.
Milner, Commissioner of Agri-
oultui-e, tine morning gave out
the monthly report pf the bureau
of cotton statistics, showing the
total number of bales of cotton
■ , t
ginned, aa far as reported, up to
Sept. 1. According to his report
there were ginned up to (bat time
this year 107,009 bales. This re-
port is not very satisfactory, as
not more than one-third of the
gins "Of the state have made re-
ports. It can be used as a guide,
however, and taking into consid-
eration the lateness of the season
It indicates there is a better oot-(
ton crop in Texas this year’ than
has bren expected. <
According to the United States
government reports there were
ginned before Sept. 1 last year
328,586 bales. For the whole sea-1
son of 1906 there were ginned
3,957.619 bales.
Commissioner Milner feels sure
that nearly two-thirds of the cot- “
ton ginned this year has not been
reported ar.d that much of it will
be Included in next month’s — 21
