news of the purchase by the Texas
Gulf Sulphur Co. of between four ami
five hundred acres of submerged oil
leases in Matagorda Bay in the vi-
cinity of Gulf. Of additional interest
and in the same dispatch, Is tile re-
ported intention of the Sulphur Com
patty to develope these leases. For
many years the submerged acreage
in that part of Hie county, and which
has been held by the state until it
could be sold to some party or parties
who would develop it, has been con
splendid oil bet, and any

will be watched with much interest

will be found sooner or later in this
