Your fuse is a traffic policeman that “stops” electricity when
something goes wrong. A safety valve! So you see, a fuse that
blows is not a nuisance. It’s a protection. Locate your fuse
box now. Then you will not need to waste time hunting it
after a fuse has blown.
Greece compares closely both
in size and population with the
state of Illinois. It is just slightly
less in each.

Why Fuses “Blow
Most frequently, fuses blow because of worn out, damaged or
loosely-connected extensions or appliance cords, because of
shorted appliances, or because circuits have been overloaded
with too many appliances and lights. That’s why you need
your electric traffic cop. Keep new fuses conveniently at hand.

PULL CORDS FROM OUTLETS-If
you’re not certain what caused the fuse
to blow, disconnect all appliances and
extension cords.
TURN OFF MAIN SWITCH-Stand
on a dry surface . . . not directly on a
concrete or earthen floor. Set main
switch at “off” position. Now no elec-
tricity flows through the fuses or to ap-
pliances and outlets.
REMOVE BLOWN FUSE-Replace the
blown fuse with a new one of the same
size ... generally 15 amperes for branch
circuits.

Most folks always have replaced their
own fuses. Those who haven’t can be
a big help in these war days by doing
it themselves from now on. It’s easy
. . . almost as simple as replacing a
lamp bulb. You help yourself, too,
because you can restore service im-
mediately without waiting for a serv-
ice man . . . who may be delayed in
these busy war times.
Each service call you eliminate con-
serves critical materials needed for
victory. Your cooperation will save
tires and motor vehicles just as it
does when you double up with neigh-
bors to cut automobile mileage.

Notice the metal link across the face under the window of
the fuse. This is a traffic bridge for a measured amount of
current. When the circuit is overloaded or “shorted”, the link
melts or “blows out”. And the current stops. The melted
link, and the resulting scorched spot under the window, in-
dicate a blown fuse.

A fsst-action melodrama cf the
Old West is ‘Jackass Mail,” which
shows today and tomorrow at
the Martin Theatre.
Wallace Beery and Marjorie
Main are starred in the cutdoor
opus, marking their fourth ap-
pearance together. They provide
the laugh highlights of the film
with their clumsy, blundering
love scenes.
Beery plays “Just” Baggot,
who escapes a hanging party to

Creek. Marjorie Main is the driv-
